  • Bad Religion Review by Hiba

Not everyone knows Bad Religion. More’s the pity. Bad Religion’s been around for ages, since the 80s, and they still are one of the most awesome bands in punk rock. From their first album, How Could Hell Be Any Worse, with the hits, ‘White Trash, (2nd Generation) and Fuck Armageddon, This is Hell, the raw power is still there in the most modern album, The Empire Strikes Back.

The sound has mellowed, a bit, but you can always hear some of the original Bad Religion. In Los Angeles Is Burning, Greg asks, “More a question than a curse, how could hell be any worse?” Greg Graffin’s clever lyrics mix with Brett Gurewitz’s amazing playing and riffs, creating the cornerstone of Bad Religion. But you can’t forget Jay Bentley’s great bass playing, or the other two guitarists they have: Greg Hetson and Brian Baker are wonderful too.

And where would they be without Brooks Wackerman, their drummer? Bad Religion has gone into a bit of politics with The Empire Strikes Back (2004) and The Process of Belief (2002), but they stay strong. Bad Religion’s not your mainstream band. No matter what the fad is, they always keep with their same angry, powerful, punk music. They have never sold-out.
Their first album on a major label, Stranger Than Fiction, is one of their best.
No one really noticed it, Bad Religion is usually ignored by radio and such, but it was truly amazing.

Bad Religion, in my opinion, is one of the best, if not the best punk band.
They’ve been around for a quarter of a century, without selling out or
changing into poser punk. Now, that should speak for itself. BAD RELIGION ROCKS!
